Restoration FAQs

I’ve got this old picture of my mom, and it’s the only one I’ve got of her, but it’s all faded and looks crummy. What can you do for me?

A lot. Faded, dull, photos can look new or better than new.

Cracks, fading, and dust spots can all be repaired. Color can be restored, but how well depends on how far gone the original is, and on what looks good to you.

We can also re-crop the original to improve it, and enlarge it to some extent. We can even remove imperfections that were in the original photograph, such as facial blemishes.

How do you do all this?

A very high-resolution scan is produced; your original image is unharmed. Some restoration is done before and during the scan; this is where much careful hand-work is required.

The scanned image is then sent to Photoshop and other software where further enhancement and refinement are carried out. We do not physically repair your photo; we re-create it as it was when it was taken (or better, in many cases).

What does it cost me?

The minimum is $85.00. The average job runs about $150, including extra copies and enlargements. When you bring your photos in, we look together at just what is wrong, figure out what’s really important to you, and give you a firm quotation we both can live with.

How quickly do I get my picture?

Depending on workload, you should receive the finished picture within two weeks. One week is more common.
